Appointment by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and working closely with Niven Architects. This turn of the century Edwardian convent building was drastically in need of a sympathetic facelift. Initially the scope included the refurbishment to the eleven bedroom/ensuites; however, the condition of the existing services and systems warranted a complete replacement. Following our initial site investigation it was decided to replace the major systems to ensure a further 25 year life expectancy.
Parsec Consulting Engineers rose to the monolithic challenge of replacing the primary and secondary key services whilst maintaining service to the existing adjacent infirmary.
This process included substantial and in some cases the complete replacement to heating, ventilation, gas, domestic water, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, nurse call and distribution systems.
Our primary objective was to maintain service, reduce operating costs, reduce running costs whilst providing 25 year significant useful and economic life.
We enjoyed the unique significance of this project and increased our cohesion as a services team structure.
This was a real gem. Providing services support to the Trust (Tees, Esk, Wear Valley NHS Trust) in a significantly reduced timescale.
